A warm welcome to our website. The choir is based in the attractive riverside town of South Woodham Ferrers in Essex where it was founded in 1979.
Under the musical directorship of dynamic and multi talented John Trent Wallace, the South Woodham Ferrers Male Voice Choir was the first choir in the country to recognise the need to expand its repertoire far beyond that of the traditional male voice choir, and has transformed itself into a male singing group with a broad based musical appeal to modern-day audiences.

New and creative arrangements of both pop and classical music, not usually found in a male voice choir's repertoire, together with the use of bespoke orchestral backing tracks, has given a new depth, breadth and vibrancy to the way we sound.

Recognition that male voice choirs have long been losing both membership and audience appeal has served to confirm our view that a fundamental change to the style and substance of our music was necessary.

Since adopting these changes there has been a significant increase in concert requests and choir membership.
