Founded in 1979, in the attractive riverside
town of South Woodham Ferrers, the choir quickly established a reputation
for musical excellence both at home and on the continent. We have
also visited the traditional home of male choirs, Wales, many times, having
the audacity on one occasion to walk off with first prize at The
Miners Eisteddfod in Porthcawl. This honour has rarely
gone to an English choir The choir's most recent overseas trip was in 2006 when we were chosen by the acclaimed Choeur Claye Vocale of Claye-Souilly, near Paris, to launch a twelve month, major, international music festival. As well as winning a number choral competitions, and being honoured with a civic award for our contribution to the arts, the choir has also passed the advanced choral singing examination of The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music Some three years ago we appointed the multi talented John Trent Wallace as our MD. His musical, sound and electronic skills have enabled the choir to challenge the long accepted norms of male choral singing whilst remaining committed to its traditions . The choir takes a great pride in the quality of its singing but the social side is also very important with many new friendships being made both within the choir and from meeting members of other choirs |
